Prof. Dr. Havva Alkan Bala has been an architecture academic for 30 years. She is a professor and head of the Building Science Department at Çukurova University and will serve at Abdullah Gül University in 2025–2026. A graduate of Middle East Technical University (1995), she completed her PhD on urban interfaces. Her research covers urban architecture, architectural education, cinema–space relations, and digital culture. Her teaching combines full-scale productions, waste-based prototyping, and community learning. Through her book and podcast “Mimarlık Öğrencisi Misin?” she reaches a wide audience. Alkan Bala has lectured and spoken internationally at Lund University, Politecnico di Milano, and in Tehran and Isfahan. She has numerous publications and serves as editor at DRArch, ICONARP, and Güney Mimarlık. In 2024, she was an invited speaker at Baku Archifest. Her work envisions a future grounded in open data and multidisciplinary collaboration.
